Your zakat/sadaqah can help a grieving family to recover. Mentex Center for Human Development is working to make 100 flood-affected families self-sufficient. It takes approximately 50,000 BDT to fully empower one family.
A small-scale project can be developed to help flood-affected people recover financially and socially. Below is an example of such a project idea:
**Project Title:**
“Light of Hope – Self-Reliance through Micro-Enterprise”
**Project Objective:**
To make flood-affected families financially, technically, and socially self-sufficient. To support their livelihoods through micro-enterprises and skill development.

**Program:**
**Financial Assistance by Sector**
Many people’s homes have been washed away by floodwaters, along with their daily essentials. In the wake of this devastating flood, they have lost everything and are left destitute. Support for livestock, poultry, or new job opportunities for the impoverished will include training in skills like sewing, garment making, mobile repair, modern agricultural technology, etc.
– A sewing machine – 12,000 BDT
– A goat – 10,000 BDT
– A small/micro business – 110,000 BDT
– A van – 20,000 BDT
– A rickshaw – 21,000 BDT
– A boat – 21,000 BDT
– A tea stall – 18,000 BDT
– A cow – 35,000 BDT
– A calf – 22,000 BDT
– Fish farming – 15,000 BDT
– Fruit business – 15,000 BDT
– Vegetable business – 12,000 BDT
– Poultry farming – 10,000 BDT
– Seeds for grains – 8,000 BDT
**Skill Development and Training**
Training will be organized for the affected individuals in areas such as sewing, garment production, mobile repair, and modern agricultural techniques. Upon completion of the training, they will receive a certificate to help them create job opportunities in the future.
**Marketing of Products**
A cooperative or platform will be established to market the products produced by the trainees. This will help them sell their goods and increase their profits.
**Additional Services Provided**
Those engaged in livestock, fish farming, or agriculture will receive seeds, fertilizers, livestock, and fish fry. Additionally, basic veterinary care and vaccinations for animals will be provided.
**Audit and Progress Evaluation**
The project’s progress will be reviewed monthly, and necessary advice will be given. Their economic progress will be monitored with a tracking graph.
**Project Budget:**
– **Training Costs:** Costs for trainers, materials, certification, etc.
– **Capital Loans and Assistance:** For starting a business or agricultural equipment.
– **Administrative Costs:** Recruitment of staff for project management and administrative expenses.
**Conclusion and Expected Outcomes:**
Through this project, affected families will become self-sufficient and increase their income. Trainees will create new job opportunities and contribute to the local economy.
